Fragments

Fragments is a series of prints and drawings that takes as its central focus the notion of remains—objects that persist as fragments of a material past. These works engage in dialogue with archaeological remnants unearthed primarily in the Middle East, particularly in Syria and Iraq. My interest lies precisely in those fragments that, at first glance, may seem marginal or insignificant, yet upon closer consideration reveal layered histories, not only through their antiquity, but also through their material composition, the traces of ancient craftsmanship they bear, and the archaeological methodologies through which they are brought to light.
For me, these remains constitute a kind of dictionary: a repertoire of elements that stimulate thought and imagination, pushing toward the construction of relationships, narratives, and conceptual as well as formal constraints.
